Every last weekend of the month, the OXBO terrace transforms into something more than a restaurant space.
It becomes a living marketplace.
“Head to the Woods” is a crafts and farmers’ bazaar founded by Bulgarian journalist and producer Galya Shtarbeva, with the mission to connect small-scale Bulgarian producers directly with conscious consumers.
What began as a platform supporting local farmers has grown into one of Sofia’s most authentic craft markets.
The bazaar gathers:
- organic farmers
- artisan cheese makers
- beekeepers
- winemakers
- bakers
- designers
- handmade craft creators
Each producer presents not just products, but stories – about land, heritage, sustainability, and craft.
The philosophy aligns naturally with OXBO’s farm-to-table approach. Many of the values we uphold in our kitchen – seasonality, transparency, respect for origin – are echoed in the producers who participate in the bazaar.
During the event, OXBO On the Go, our wooden house on the terrace, becomes a vibrant focal point. It serves seasonal drinks, curated bites, and coffee to guests exploring the market, creating a seamless bridge between restaurant and community gathering.
The bazaar is not a commercial market. It is a cultural movement – celebrating Bulgarian agriculture, craftsmanship, and sustainable living.
For those searching for:
- a farmers’ market in Sofia
- a crafts bazaar in Sofia
- authentic local producers
- weekend activities in Sofia
“Head to the Woods” offers a meaningful alternative to mass consumption.
It is about slowing down, meeting the maker, and understanding where things come from – the same philosophy that guides OXBO’s kitchen every day.
